Wakefield is seeking to play an active part in the city region partnership.
Large scale regeneration projects are transforming the Wakefield district and, coupled with its excellent transport links to the rest of the country, this is helping Wakefield to grow in importance within the city region and increase its attractiveness as a location to live, work, visit and invest in.
Wakefield’s population (currently 322,000) is changing, growing in size, age and make up. Growing diversity as a district is evident.
The economy of the district is relatively large, being the 35th largest of the 408 local authority areas in the country. Wakefield is also a Housing Growth Point.
